Social Skills Schedule – Needham

4 & 5 Year Old Boys and Girls Social Skills and Play Group  
Mondays 3:00
This is a social skills and play group for 4 & 5 Year Old’s who struggle to join in and play with peers, have trouble reading social cues, or kids who would benefit from additional coaching and support with peer interactions. We work on sharing, turn taking, coming out of our shells, problem solving, communication skills, personal space, thinking about what our friends might be thinking or feeling, and having fun with friends. We use stories, art, play, games, and other fun activities.

Kindergarten Social Skills Group
Wednesdays 3:15
This is a Social Skills and play group for kids in Kindergarten who need to work on joining in appropriately, connecting with friends, turn taking, reading social cues, conversation skills, sharing, problem solving, speaking up for themselves, going with the flow, being flexible, and having fun with friends.  We use play, art, stories, games and other fun activities.  

K & 1st Grade Girls
Mondays 4:00
This is a social skills group for K & 1st Grade Girls who have a hard time joining in with peers, struggle to make and keep friends and have difficulty reading social cues. We work on joining in, conversation skills, nonverbal communication skills, sportsmanship, being flexible, going with the flow, problem solving with friends,  self-awareness, speaking up for ourselves and connecting with others. We use stories, art, games, play to practice and reinforce these friendship and social skills.

1st & 2nd Grade Boys Social Skills and Play Group
Saturdays 9:15 & Wednesdays 4:15
This is a social skills and play group for 1st & 2nd Grade Boys who struggle to join in with peers, have trouble reading social cues, or kids who would benefit from additional coaching and support with peer interactions. Saturdays 9:15 & Tuesdays 3:45
This is a social skills group for 2nd & 3rd Grade Girls who have a hard time joining in with peers, struggle to make and keep friends and have difficulty reading social cues. We work on joining in, conversation skills, nonverbal communication skills, sportsmanship, being flexible, going with the flow, problem solving with friends,  self-awareness and connecting with others. We use stories, art, games, and team work challenges to practice and reinforce these friendship and social skills.

3rd & 4th Grade Boys Social Skills Group
Saturdays 10:15-11:05 & Mondays 5:00
This is a group for 2nd & 3rd Grade Boys who would benefit from additional practice and skills with making and keeping friends. In this group we work on conversation skills, being good listeners with our friends, turn taking, thinking about what our friends might be thinking, problem solving, cooperating, being flexible, sportsmanship, and many more skills. We use fun games, activities, stories, art, and play to practice and reinforce friendship and social skills.

4th & 5th Grade Girls Social Skills and Friendship Group
Mondays 4:00, Tuesdays 4:45 & Saturdays 10:15
This is a social skills and friendship group for 4th & 5th Grade Girls who would benefit from additional skills and practice with joining in, reading social cues, navigating social experiences, being appropriately assertive, and having fun with friends. This group is for girls with ADHD, NLD, Anxiety, or girls who struggle to connect with peers or maintain long term friendships. We work on joining in, conversation skills, nonverbal communication skills, sportsmanship, being flexible, going with the flow, how to manage social stressors, frustration management, self-awareness and connecting with others. We will use games, stories, art, play, conversation, and team work challenges to practice and reinforce important friendship and social skills.

5th & 6th Grade Boys Social Skills Group
Tuesdays 3:45, Saturdays 11:30
This is a group for 5th & 6th grade boys who would benefit from additional practice and skills with making friends, joining in, reading social cues, conversation skills, sportsmanship, being flexible, going with the flow, nonverbal communication, and having fun with friends. We use games, activities, group projects and team work challenges to practice and reinforce important social and friendship skills.

6th & 7th Grade Girls Social Skills and Friendship Group
Tuesdays 4:45
This is a social skills and friendship group for 6th & 7th Grade Girls who would benefit from additional skills and practice with joining in, reading social cues, navigating social experiences, being appropriately assertive, and having fun with friends. This group is for girls with ADHD, NLD, Anxiety, or girls who struggle to connect with peers or maintain long term friendships. We will use games, stories, art, play, conversation, and team work challenges to practice and reinforce important friendship and social skills.

6th & 7th Grade Boys Social Skills Group
Mondays 5:00
This is a social skills group for 6th & 7th grade boys with ADHD, Anxiety, or for kids who have trouble making friends or struggle to connect with their peers. We work on joining in with friends, communication, taking other’s perspectives, self-awareness, reading social cues, connecting with others, being appropriately assertive, appropriate use of humor, and sportsmanship. We will use games, activities, team work challenges and fun activities to practice and reinforce friendship and social skills.

Middle School Girls Social Skills and Friendship Group
Thursdays 4:15
This is a group for Middle School Girls who struggle to connect with their peers, read social cues, and navigate their social world. This group would be beneficial for girls with ADHD, Anxiety, NLD, or girls who could benefit from extra social skills practice and coaching. In a fun and laid back environment we use conversation, art, games, and team work challenges to practice and reinforce important social and friendship skills including reading social cues, joining in appropriately, taking other’s perspectives, and having fun with friends.

7th – 9th Grade Boys Social Skills Group
Wednesdays 6:30
This is a group for 7th-9th Grade Boys with ADHD, NLD, Anxiety, Depression or Boys who struggle to join in, connect, or maintain friendships with peers. We will work on conversation skills, nonverbal communication, being appropriately assertive, handling teasing, sportsmanship, self-awareness, reading social cues, and joining in. We will use conversation, games, and team work challenges to practice and reinforce important social and friendship skills.

High School Girls Social Skills and Friendship Group
Mondays 7:00
This is a group for High School Girls with ADHD, NLD, Anxiety, Depression or girls who struggle to read and interpret social cues. We will work on joining in, decoding social scenarios, managing feelings of social anxiety, connection with peers, self-awareness, gaining self-confidence, and having fun with friends. We will use conversation, games, art, improvisational acting, and team work challenges to practice and reinforce the skills.

High School Girls Social Skills Group
Thursdays 6:15 & 7:15
This is a social skills group for High School Grade Girls with HFA, Aspergers, PDD, or girls who struggle to join in and connect with their peers, read social cues, or for girls who would like skills to make and keep friends. During our group we work on conversation skills, nonverbal communication, making connections, and reading and understanding social situations. The group offers a supportive and relaxed environment for teenage girls to connect with others and work on important social skills in a safe and comfortable environment. We often order pizza, play party games, and do arts & crafts

High School Boys Social Skills Group
Mondays 6:00 & Tuesdays 6:45
This is a group for High School Boys with ADHD, NLD, Anxiety, or Depression who struggle to join in, connect, or get along with peers. We will work on conversation skills, nonverbal communication, being appropriately assertive, going with the flow, self-awareness, reading social cues, and joining in. We will use conversation, games, and team work challenges to practice and reinforce important social and friendship skills.

High School Role Playing Game (RPG) Social Skills Group
Wednesdays 6:15
Come join us for a social skills group filled with fun, friendship, and adventure! This tabletop Role-Playing Game based group is designed for teenagers looking for a safe and fun space to practice age appropriate social skills, ease social anxiety, deepen sense of self-worth, work on collaborative problem solving and communication skills, and process feelings through collaborative role-play.
