Explore Our Social-Emotional Groups

Group therapy offers kids and teens a meaningful way to connect, grow, and feel less alone. Whether children are working on social skills, managing big emotions, building confidence, or navigating anxiety, being in a group helps them realize that others share similar experiences and challenges. Practicing skills alongside peers can feel less intimidating, more motivating, and even fun.
At Child Therapy Boston, we believe deeply in the power of group work. Our therapy groups support a wide range of social, emotional, and creative goals, including making and keeping friends, emotional regulation, flexibility, confidence-building, and coping with anxiety. Groups are thoughtfully designed to be safe, engaging, and supportive, using a blend of games, creative expression, movement, mindfulness, and collaborative activities. While each group is unique, all are grounded in connection, growth, and helping kids learn and practice skills in ways that feel playful, meaningful, and empowering.

Let’s Get Social

Practice joining in with friends, reading social cues, navigating social dynamics, conversation skills, perspective-taking, building and sustaining connections, problem-solving, cooperating, sportsmanship, flexibility, and much more. We use fun games, activities, stories, projects, teamwork challenges, and more to practice and reinforce important friendship and social skills.

Coping Outside the Box

Build coping skills for emotional regulation, anxiety management, and stress management. We use creative and dynamic tools, including music, art, crafts, mindfulness, and more to give kids new, “outside the box” ways of managing difficult feelings, expressing their thoughts, and supporting themselves emotionally.

Coping and Connecting

Where social skills and coping skills come together! Kids will have fun with games, teamwork challenges, activities, and more while practicing friendship skills, emotional regulation, anxiety management, and stress management. We help kids take coping skills off the “toolbox shelf” and learn when and how to use them in real-life social situations; building confidence, flexibility, and stronger connections with others.

Calm Together

Build early social skills and emotional regulation skills through play! Designed just for little ones, Calm Together uses stories, games, art, and fun activities to help kids recognize and express their feelings, join in with others, read social cues, and build positive connections. We practice turn-taking, sharing, problem-solving, self-soothing, confidence, and more—all while having fun with friends!

Yes And…

“Yes And…” is a therapeutic Improv Group to help teens work on Social Skills and Social Anxiety in a fun, creative and engaging way. Improv offers kids and teens an opportunity to engage with others, be flexible, creative, silly, funny, work through insecurities, connect with peers, and gain confidence. We offer Yes, And…” for Middle Schoolers in Needham. Please reach out with any questions or to sign up.

Clayful Coping

Build social skills and confidence through the fun and creativity of improv! Yes, And… is a therapeutic improv group designed to help middle schoolers navigate social anxiety, build connections, and feel more comfortable with peers. Through improv games and activities, kids practice flexibility, creativity, communication, taking risks, working through insecurities, and—most importantly—having fun and being themselves! Offered for middle schoolers in Needham.

Creative Connections

Building social skills and fostering authentic connections through collaborative creative expression. Creative Connections gives middle schoolers a supportive space to build confidence, strengthen communication and conversation skills, practice perspective-taking and flexibility, and learn how to collaborate, compromise, and join in with peers. Through improv, visual arts, and social processing, kids can explore different ways of connecting and expressing themselves while developing the confidence to be themselves. Because the strongest connections are built when we can show up as our authentic selves, this group encourages kids to connect with others while also embracing what makes them uniquely themselves.
